Yemi Alade – It’s Yemi Alade (Album)

Nigerian Afropop heavyweight Yemi Alade enters another major phase of her career with It’s Yemi Alade, her seventh studio album and the full-length successor to 2024’s Rebel Queen.

The 16-song project brings together collaborators from several corners of African music, including Ferre Gola, Spyro, Don Jazzy, Bien, Sofiya Nzau, Njerae, Singuila, Teni, JeriQ and FAVE. That guest selection reflects the cross-border approach that has remained an important part of Yemi Alade’s catalogue.

Musically, the album moves through different shades of Afropop and Afrobeats rather than relying on one pace throughout. Yemi Alade remains the central presence, using her melodic delivery and energetic performance style to connect the solo cuts with the collaborations.

The project arrives during a notable period for the singer, who earned her first Grammy nomination ahead of the 2025 ceremony. More than a decade after her breakthrough, her audience now stretches well beyond Nigeria, giving this album a strong platform across African and international markets.

The album can be found across major digital streaming platforms. Spend some time with the full project and tell us which songs caught your attention in the comments.
